This Saturday athletes from the Banner County will be packing their bags and heading to ‘The Big Shmoke’ to compete in the national senior indoor championships. After their brilliant performance in the national senior and masters cross country intermediate championships in Westport this year, which saw multiple individual, team and county medals for Clare, Clare athletes are looking to replicate their performance indoors.
The action is set to kick off at 12pm midday in the Sport Ireland National Indoor arena in Dublin. The contingent from Clare will have their work cut out for them as they face off against Olympic athletes from the Paris 2024 Olympic games. Household names competing include Israel Olatunde, Sarah Lavin, Sharlene Mawdleys and Sarah Leahy.
While tickets may be still available on the Athletics Ireland website for Saturday the organisation has warned that Day 2 is already sold out with no tickets to be made available at the door. They have further warned spectators not to travel up without tickets for Sunday as there will be no way of permitting entry for the event.
A full timetable of events and programmes is available on the Athletics Ireland website.
The Clare County Athletics Board wants to wish the best of luck to all Clare Athletes competing on both days and safe travel to and from the events.
